LATAN compounds are based on copolymer POM, a resin where comonomer units are causally added in repetitive blocks of trioxan. The comonomer units provide a better thermal stability and higher oxidation resistance.

  • Good self-lubricant properties;
  • Excellent wear resistance.
Good wear resistance, chemical inertness and low moisture absorption characterize main applications of LATAN compounds: gears, cams, bushings and various parts in electromechanical, hydraulic, automotive and other sectors. Good hydrolysis resistance allows use of LATAN compounds for applications in hot water up to 80-90°C.
High and low fluidity versions are available.

Impact resistance grades

LATAN impact resistant versions are available, formulated to improve part toughness.

Filled grades
LATAN can be filled with glass beads, in order to obtain a product with higher dimensional stability and better wear resistance compared to glass fibres reinforced grades.

Reinforced grades
LATAN compounds can be reinforced with glass fibres, which contribute to improve the stiffness of the material, and/or carbon fibres, which improve the inherently good self-lubricating properties of the neat resin. In order to reduce the differential shrinkages phenomena in reinforced grades, an accurate part design should be performed.

Self-lubricant grades
Family products with better self-lubricating properties are available by adding substances able to improve the tribological properties of the material. These grades are suitable for plastic-metal or plastic-plastic contact applications. Compounds able to fulfil specific requirements concerning wear resistance and friction factor can also be formulated. For more information, please check LATILUB grades.

Electrically anti-static / partially conductive / dissipative grades
Family compounds can be formulated with anti-static, partially conductive or dissipative properties, even in reinforced versions and/or with carbon nanotubes: search grades in LATISTAT and LATIOHM product range.
