PEEK compounds based on PEEK neat resin, a linear aromatic polymer, which contains a great amount of aromatic components; these allow the material to reach very high temperature performances in aggressive environments. The colour of the non-reinforced grade is light brown-grey.

  • Excellent chemical resistance;
  • Very good UV and Gamma radiation resistance;
  • Very good tribological properties;
  • Hardly inflammable, with extremely low smoke emissions;
  • Very good chemical corrosion resistance.
PEEK represents an outstanding compromise between chemical resistance, thermal resistance and tribological properties. Its inherent features make it an excellent material for the production of thermoplastic articles where high performances are required even in extreme operating conditions.
LARPEEK compounds can be processed using standard moulds and injection moulding machines, with the exception of their processing temperature that requires an electric mould. The fluidity of the material decreases going by LARPEEK 10 to LARPEEK 50.
LARPEEK compounds are inherently flame-retardant materials.

Reinforced grades
LARPEEK can be reinforced with glass fibres, which contribute to improve the stiffness of the material, and/or carbon fibres, which improve the inherently good self-lubricating properties of the neat resin. Mixed versions containing glass fibres and mineral fillers are also available and they help to reduce differential shrinkages phenomena. In order to reduce this issue in reinforced grades, an accurate part design should be performed.

Self-lubricating grades

Family products with better self-lubricating properties are available by adding substances able to improve the tribological properties of the material. These grades are suitable for plastic-metal or plastic-plastic contact applications. Compounds able to fulfil specific requirements concerning wear resistance and friction factor can also be formulated. For more information, please check LATILUB grades.

X-RAY shielding grades
All the applications that require x-ray shielding features can benefit of the very good thermal and chemical properties of LARPEEK compounds. These grades are available in LATIGRAY family.
